At 8pm, Simone and Heather will report-back and share photos from our recent AGRA Watch trip to Kenya and Senegal. In Kenya, Simone met with agroecological farmers, educators, and food sovereignty activists to learn more about their work to preserve traditional and indigenous agriculture in the face of corporatization of Kenyan agriculture by Big Ag industries and major policy influence from the Gates Foundation. Read more here. In Senegal, Simone, Heather, and AGRA Watch co-chair Bill Aal participated in the African Food Systems Conference and the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa’s Assembly, where we were officially approved as an Associate Member. Join us to hear more about what this means for our work, what we learned at the conference, and where we will go from here in solidarity with the African food sovereignty movement.
