Mission and Vision

Mission

Community Alliance for Global Justice strengthens the global food sovereignty movement through community education and mobilization.

We build solidarity across movements through grassroots, community-based organizing, and a commitment to ending all forms of oppression. We work to transform unjust trade and agricultural policies and practices imposed by corporations, governments, and foundations. We promote alternatives that embody values of racial, social and environmental justice, collective liberation, solidarity, community self-determination, and ecological health.

Vision

Community Alliance for Global Justice envisions a future free from oppression, where people and the planet flourish, and communities control the decisions affecting them. Global justice has been achieved through the realization of an equitable economy, encompassing fair trade, wealth redistribution, and land reform. All are nourished by a just and decolonized food system grounded in principles of food sovereignty and agroecology.

Food sovereignty is the right of peoples to healthy and culturally appropriate food produced through ecologically sound and sustainable methods, and their right to define their own food and agriculture systems.
