Karen Cowgill: “Whatever you can give is enough!”

Dear CAGJ Friends,

“Whatever you do … will be insignificant but it is very important that you do it” – Gandhi

My name is Karen Cowgill, and I’ve been CAGJ’s Board Secretary over the past year. Today I’m asking you to show up for CAGJ in whatever way you can. This can look like giving an end-of-the-year donation, become a Monthly Sustainer, and/or committing to volunteer your time, or becoming a member by filling out our online form.

I want you to know that whatever you choose, it’s not too little or too late! What you bring to the table, it is enough – you are enough.

Why I Support CAGJ:

The Community Alliance for Global Justice (CAGJ) is a small local organization that plays an outsized role in the global food sovereignty movement. It’s a vital connector between local constituencies and on-the-ground allies and activists.

Several groups of people sit in circles on a green lawn with a blanket between them, writing on a large piece of paper.

CAGJ supports Farmworkers and grocery workers in western Washington, while also being an active member of the National Family Farm Coalition, US Food Sovereignty Alliance, and Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA).

CAGJ creates and holds authentic space for connection between people at a human scale across borders of class, race, and country. It demands accountability of billionaires and seeks to reframe conversations around ownership of land, intellectual property, and livelihoods.

CAGJ tackles complicated issues that aren’t easily reduced to sound bites. Through teach-ins, teach-outs, summer schools, art and activism workshops, CAGJ brings people together to grow and learn and act.

Whatever you can give, it’s enough

Enough to know that you are in the struggle, that you are showing up to declare that you’re part of this community.

So many of us feel overwhelmed by the big things in our world and the small things in our lives. Sometimes we feel we need to be all in or not at all. But what if we just did our best – whatever our best is on any given day – and trusted that was enough?

In solidarity,
