Call for submissions: CAGJ’s Food Justice Project announces “Recipes for a New Normal”

CAGJ’s Food Justice Project is calling for submissions to the 3rd edition of our iconic food justice zine: Our Food, Our Right.

Purchase a copy of our previous editions here!

This digital zine will bring together the voices, wisdom, and dreams of food-loving creatives of all genres to share reflections on food sovereignty and movement building during these unprecedented times.

We want to give special attention to stories that center the bottom-up leadership of the most marginalized, challenge power inequalities, and focus on change that is relational, collective, and transformative.  We welcome contributions from anyone who desires to share, with any level of experience, and will prioritize submissions by BIPOC, disabled, and queer creators.

Our goal is to compile a collection of lessons learned in world-building throughout 2020, with a special focus on (re)connection through food during a time of disconnection. You might consider these questions:

  • During these times, how have you connected in new ways – with yourself, the land, food, your community, politics, your dreams, your power?
  • What have you learned about those connections and your relationships? How have they nourished you through a context of great instability, uncertainty, and loss?
  • How has 2020 challenged you, inspired you, shaped how you navigate the world going forward into 2021 and beyond?
  • What recipes for life have you added to your collection? What do they taste, feel, look, like?

Concept drafts due by January 15th, 2021.
