Food Justice Urban Hike-a-thon!

SAT April 28

Hike 10am-3pm; Celebration at MLK Community Center 3-5pm!

A fundraiser for the 2nd Edition of Our Food, Our Right

Calling all urban hikers and teams!  Register today!

Have you ever wanted to explore parts of our foodshed, by foot?  Want to check out some urban farm & food justice projects, take action locally, learn something new, support CAGJ’s 2nd edition of Our Food, Our Right, all while hitting the trail – in the city?

Join the Our Food, Our Right Urban Hike-a-thon and make that dream a reality.  We need team leaders to assemble groups of friends, families, co-workers, and more to participate in a Hike-a-thon through the city and raise funds to go towards publishing the second edition of “Our Food, Our Right”, called Stories of Change.  Stop at local food justice projects en route, share a lunch break with a view, discover new things around every turn, and find the green in the city.  Together we will raise $10,000 to publish our 2nd book, foreword by Raj Patel.

We’re currently plotting the traverse, which will take urban hikers from CAGJ’s office in the International District, through the Central District and Madison Valley.  So bring your witty team name, pledges, and your hiking shoes, and join CAGJ and our partners for a journey through urban nature, and growing and eating for justice.

Hikers pledge to raise $50 from their community, and can also assemble a team of friends, families, co-workers, and more to participate or donate to their goal in a Hike-a-thon through the city, where we will:

  • Stop at local food justice projects, union grocers, locally sourced restaurants, local food processors, urban farms, and more en route
  • Share a lunch break with a view,
  • Discover new things around every turn,
  • Find the green in the city

Together we will raise $10,000 to publish our 2nd book, foreword by Raj Patel.

Start a Team! – Want to hit the trail with a friend, partner, comrade, buddy, family, group, or more? Start your own team, and make a bigger impact for food justice. You and others on your team will each pledge to raise $50, getting us leaps and bounds closer to our fundraising goal and embarking on the urban hike with your team.

Individuals – Solo hikers pledge to raise $50 to participate in the event and do the hike on April 28.  Reach out to your community—every $10, $15, $20 goes to support great work!
