Their inspiration and knowledge fall in the realms of Traditional Plant Medicine, First Foods, Indigenous Language Revitalization, Poetry, Healing Justice, Indigenous Childbirth Education, Motherhood, Healing Trauma through Indigenous Wisdom and partnering with Plants, Animals and Ancestors. She believes in Indigenous Women Leadership for the ReMatriation of Mother Earth.
The Art & Activism Speaker and Workshop Series celebrates the role that art plays in social change. For the Speaker component, artist-activist share their work and philospohy during our Monthly Organizing Meetings, followed by a community discussion. So far, we have heard from David Solnit, Community to Community's Artivism Team, and Beverly Naidus. For the Workshop component, we take inspiration from the MOM meetings and build art for our movements! In April, we made a beautiful banner that we carried at the Marcha Campesina May Day March. And this MAY 20, we David Solnit and Julie Searle will lead a poetry and screen-printing workshop for our Stop G.E. Salmon campaign:

February’s Art & Activism Monthly Organizing Meeting (M.O.M.) speaker David Solnit and Julie Searle will lead a screen-printing and poetry workshop with us. David was instrumental in the successful direct action at the heart of the 1999 WTO uprising, and has continued his art and activism in support of climate justice, farmworkers and many other movements for social justice! We are thrilled that he and his partner are traveling up from the Bay Area to join us for our workshop!
