“To save her home from extreme weather, Malawian activist Anita Chitaya faces her greatest challenge: persuading Americans that climate change is real. As she travels across America she meets climate skeptics and despairing farmers. Her journey takes her across all the divisions shaping the US, from the rural-urban divide, to schisms of race, class and gender, to the thinking that allows Americans to believe they live on a different planet from everyone else. It will take all her skill and experience to help Americans recognize and free themselves from a logic that is already destroying the Earth.”

Screening is free, but you must register to receive the link to the virtual Zoom event and film.

CAGJ HAPPENINGS

Watch the AGRA Watch Roundtable Discussion
How the Gates Foundation Sponsors the Corporate Capture of Global Food Systems
With the UN Food Systems Summit set to take place this September in New York City, our recent AGRA Watch roundtable discussion aimed to raise public and media awareness about the powerful interests working to capture our global food systems, and chart a course for participants to take action for food sovereignty. Speakers brought attention to Bill Gates’ and the Gates Foundation’s roles in advancing harmful industrial agriculture models in Africa and around the world. Though deeply flawed in many ways, this model of agricultural development is becoming dominant and edging out proven agro-ecological alternatives. AFSA: Open Letter to AGRA Donors
Call to end support for Green Revolution programs in Africa
Nairobi, 7 Sept 2021 - Today the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA), representing some 200 million small-scale food producers, alongside 160 international organizations from 40 countries, release an open letter calling on donors to stop funding the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). Our Alliance in June wrote to AGRA’s donors asking them to provide evidence to refute research showing that the 15-year-old industrial agriculture initiative has failed to improve incomes and food security for the millions of small-scale food producers it targeted. We received few responses and no credible evidence. Keep reading.

A Farewell Message from CAGJ Solidarity Partner Got Green's Longtime Executive Director
July 27, 2021 - "It is with a heavy heart to share with you that this is my last month at Got Green as Executive Director. It has been such a journey to grow together with this organization. When I joined in 2009 as a volunteer, I did not know anything about climate change nor see myself as a leader. I’m so glad that I was organized by Michael Woo and found a political home with Got Green!" Keep reading.
