Take action now: Tell your Senators to keep unlabeled GMO salmon out of our food system!

GMO salmon has no place on our plates. It raises environmental and health concerns, and it could potentially cause irreversible damage to wild salmon populations. We clearly can’t rely on the Trump administration to protect us from these foods. That means it’s more important than ever that Congress step in and pushes for clear labels on GMOs, starting with the GMO salmon!

Dear Senator,

As your constituent, I urge you to support The Genetically Engineered Salmon Labeling Act (S.282). Genetically engineered salmon will not be appropriately labeled under the USDA’s “bioengineered” labeling standards, and if GMO salmon is in any store, I want to know if I am purchasing wild, sustainably caught salmon or GMO salmon. The production of GMO salmon could have unintended consequences for wild salmon and threatened ecosystems. This bill would require an accurate label that people understand for GMO salmon. In addition, I urge you to call for the Trump Administration to consult Tribes potentially impacted by GMO salmon, a requirement that has been ignored to date.

Genetically engineered salmon must be clearly labeled. I want to know what production practices I am supporting with my food choices and to ensure I am not supporting GMO salmon and its environmental risks.
