Description

We will be working in our Children's Garden in preparation for Spring. Tasks will include cleaning up blackberry bushes, pulling out weeds, building raised beds, and more. As a nonprofit food bank farm, all of the produce grown at Elk Run will be donated to members of the community facing food insecurity. Almost all of the labor at the farm is donated by volunteers from the community who are working hard to physically address the effects of hunger and poverty throughout the South King County region. This project directly empowers the local community to redistribute resources using sustainable and equitable practices on the farm and in emergency feeding programs. We often hear from volunteers that they didn’t know food banks had produce at all, so raising awareness about the need for better quality food for everyone in the community is part of our mission.
