Sat Oct 19: Teach-Out! Join Duwamish Alive for healthy waterways and fishing rights!

Sat Oct 19, 2013 9:30am – 3:00pm Teach-Out: Join Duwamish Alive for healthy waterways and fishing rights!
Join CAGJ’s Food Justice Project as we join Duwamish Alive, an organization working in the Duwamish River watershed to preserve and enhance habitat for people and wildlife, towards improving the health of Puget Sound. We will volunteer, and then enjoy a happy hour (location TBD) right after for a discussion on water rights, food sovereignty, and access to traditional foods!

We’ll be volunteering at the T-107 site which you can find on this google map. This site is sponsored by the Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition, Port of Seattle and the Duwamish Tribe. T-107 is an important archaeological, cultural and historical site that sits on the shores of the original Duwamish River. Today, T-107 is an important habitat node, or oasis, where returning salmon and other wildlife can rest, feed and escape from predators… we want to keep it this way, and make it even better!

RSVP REQUIRED click here. (Please do not RSVP on the Duwamish Alive Clean-up website; we will set up our group with the organizers).

When you RSVP we will send you directions, more details on what to wear and bring, and coordinate carpools. All activities will be appropriate for children and we can work out disability accommodations if needed. Click here for more info about the event.
