DRAFT CALL TO ACTION: 10th Anniversary of 1999 WTO Protests

CAGJ will be working over the summer with others to build a broad alliance of individuals & organizations to make a Call for Actions this Fall.  Look for an updated Call in September.

Community Alliance for Global Justice calls on all activists fighting for justice locally and globally to come together again in Seattle in the Fall of 2009 to reflect on and learn from our collective victory over the WTO in 1999, & take action to support communities engaged in building alternatives to corporate power. At this moment of increasing economic and environmental crises, we aim to highlight the continued relevance today of the issues motivating the 1999 protests, and inspire a unified movement moving forward.   To achieve these aims requires the active participation of broad sectors.

We invite you to join our organizing to help shape some unified events and actions, and we encourage a multiplicity of tactics and forums, reflecting the diversity of our movements.  Our initial conversations have led us to propose a Teach-in over the week-end of Nov 28 & 29, 2009, followed by actions to take place December 5th.  The purpose of the Teach-in will be to educate, train participants in activist strategies, and inspire to take action and participate in specific movements and projects, as presented by organizers.
